Summary: The stability and degradation study of the drugs have engrossed much attention due to their versatile usage in our daily life. The main problem in numerous unstable products is degradation. Keeping in view this scenario, a study was planned to determine the stability and degradation of the Cefixime, Febuxostat and Paracit and measuring their intrinsic properties. The aim was to check the degradation of the respective medicines under different stress conditions. The conditions may include acidic, basic, oxidative or thermal changes. As the human body experience these conditions at different intervals of life,so this an attempt to check the effect of these changing media on the activity of the medicine. The two techniques which are used are UV-visible spectroscopy and HPLC (high pressure liquid chromatography). The results shown by these techniques can be determined by checking the deviations of absorbtion spectrum as compare with the standard value of the drug. And for HPLC the changes in retention time gives several peak having suitable peak area which indicates that the degradation had been occurred. The medicine that were tested under the stress condition include cefixime trihydrate commonly used against bacterial infections, febuxostat used to treat gout and paracit (paracetamol) that reduces pain and fever. All the three drugs are important and have practical uses in our daily life. So, by checking the degradation we will be able to know that in which media the medicine performs well and the condition in which it starts degradation.
