Summary: The present thesis is based on isolation and purification of natural products from drumstick tree (Moringa oleifera) and development of their nutraceutical dosage form. This research work consists of three phases. First phase contains the phytochemical screening and biological activity. Second phase consist of isolation and purification of natural product and third phase consist of preparation of nutraceutical dosage form. In first phase collection of plant, extraction, fractionation, phytochemical screening and in-vitro and in-vivo studies was done. In the second phase isolation of compound was carried out by column chromatography and purified by TLC. The isolated pure compound was then identified by using different techniques i.e. MS, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, UV i.e. erythrodiol and β-sitosterol glucoside. In the third phase syrup was prepared by using standard method. After formulation of syrup, it was evaluated by using different parameters such as color, taste, viscosity etc. Three different fractions were obtained i.e. n-hexane, chloroform and ethylacetate. Phytochemical screening confirmed the presence of different phytochemicals in all three fractions. In-vitro and in-vivo studies indicated the anti-diabetic effect of three fractions. In which aqueous showed more effective results. Finally we formulated the herbal syrup of this plant extract.
