The present aim of the study is to develop novel 1,2-diphenylethane-1,2-dione known as benzil and dilantoin analogues and metal complexes. The synthesis of dilantoin and
its derivatives has been conducted. The compounds were synthesized by stirring with benzil and urea in the existence of basic. Required compounds, which were synthesized,
characterized by FTIR spectroscopy. Its conversion into metal complexes were produced by re-fluxing this mixture with regular metal salts ZnCl2 in the existence of ethanol working as a solvent. We were characterized these complexes by FTIR
spectroscopy. Their biological activities were studied. It was observed that the synthesized compounds show excellent antimicrobial activity.
