89Zr is that positron emitting radionuclide which is produced via low energy cyclotron. It is
increasing in popularity day by day as a radiolabel for positron emission tomography (PET).
Due to its half-life (3.27 days), it is suitable for cancer imaging.
Out of 75 reactions, total six reactions were selected through EXFOR to achieve the
favorable production route for 89Zr. The evaluation methodology had performed for 89Y(p,n)
89Zr, 89Y(d,2n) 89Zr, 89Y(α,x) 89Zr, 86Sr(α,n)89Zr ,87Sr(α,2n)89Zr and 88Sr(α,3n) 89Zr reactions
to obtain the recommended cross section values. The recommended curve for each
production route was calculated on the basis of nuclear model codes {EMPIRE (version
3.2.2 Malta), ALICE-IPPE, TALYS & TENDL-2015} and confidence limit of experimental
data. Normalization of experimental data was done on the basis of monitoring and decay
data characteristics.
After analyzing some weak limitations and checking the reliability of the data, we found that
the 89Y (p,n) 89Zr was the best production route for 89Zr because it can easily produce by
low energy cyclotrons.
