Zinc sulfide (ZnS) with suitable optical properties, emerges as a strikin
semiconductor material for solar and electronic applications. This research work is
step forward towards the optimization of ZnS nanoparticles growth on glass substrat
by Chemical Bath Deposition (CBD) Technique. Polycrystalline thin films have bee
deposited on glass substrates by locally established CBD technique at 90˚
temperature for 3 hours of deposition time. Optical Properties, Structural and th
morphological were studied by XRD, SEM and UV-Vis techniques, respectivel
XRD analysis of deposited thin films revealed that nanoparticles with crystallite siz
of 1.94 nm. The deposited thin films are preferentially oriented along (111) plan
exhibiting dislocation density and strain as 0.29 ×10−3 (nm)-2 and 0.01
respectively. SEM analysis clearly depicts the growth of spherical nanoparticles wi
an average size of 125 nm, distributed through the substrate surface. UV-Vis stud
revealed that deposited ZnS nanoparticles exhibit an optical direct band gap of 3.5
eV. These ZnS nanocrystalline thin films might have potential applications in sensor
solar cells and advanced optoelectronic devices.
