Method Development and Comparative Study of Different Brands of Vitamins D3 (Cholecalciferol) in Pharma Dosage Form /Muhammad Abdullah

By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: Lahore : Department of Chemistry, Div. S&T University of Education, 2018Description: 58 p. CDSubject(s): DDC classification:
  • 546.24 M5661
Summary: The parameter study deals with the comparison of different brands of Vitamin D injections, UV spectrophotometric method used to compare the %age assay and absorbance. Physical parameters were used i.e., clearing of the solution, color test and volume variation. Five different brands of injections were taken for comparative study. Similarly chemical assay of five brands were measured under UV spectrophotometer and it was found that %age assay were within limits 99%-102%. However the best one is that of D. Drop having percentage assay 100%. Volume variation range in between 1.024 ml - 1.064ml. And the absorbance was in between 0.500-0.512. From the comparative study it was observed that all the brands of Vitamin D showed the same results as per standard. Since there is a variation in the formulation of these drugs which may affect the result by performing qualitative and quantitative test from the test results and plots, it was observed and can be concluded that an economical and a quality products can be prescribed for Osteoporosis and Rickets patients whether they are manufactured by the local pharmaceutical companies without any health risk.
