The compound dibenzalacetone which is also known as 1,5 diphenylpenta-1,4-dien-3-one has been synthesized along with series of its analogues. Synthesis of the compound has been done by stirring with benzaldehyde and acetone in the presence of NaOH as a catalyst and by using ethanol as a solvent. Its analogues or derivatives were prepared by treating the dibenzalacetone with urea and hydrazine hydrate. Some dizepine derivatives were synthesized by refluxing 2-
aminobenzenethiol and malonic acid. The metallation was done or its transition metal complexes were synthesized by treating or refluxing parent molecules with transition metal salt like NiCl2 in the presence of ethanol as a solvent. The product obtained as crystalline solid having different visibly bright colors. The
biological activities of the dibenzalacetone and dizepine derivatives were determined and their structures were determined by FTIR spectroscopy.
