Summary: A simplest and efficient technique called HIGH PERFORMANCE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY (HPLC) to determine the concentration of synthetic pyrethroid pesticides residues(cypermethrin, deltamethrin, permethrin and bifenthrin) in the 3 different vegetable samples collected from different areas of Punjab Pakistan is used. We carried out extraction of pyrethroids from samples by dissolving in ethyl acetate and sodium chloride mixture. Sodium sulphate anhydrous is used for filtration and extraction of pesticides. Analysis was performed by High Performance Liquid Chromatography. The maximum concentration of pyrethroids determined was 458.86 ng/g of cypermethrin. The mean concentrations of cypermethrin and Deltamethrin in our samples were 108.29 and 115.18 ng/g and that of the Permethrin and Bifenthrin were below the level of detection of our system so our system could not detect their presence in vegetable samples. The concentration of all the pesticide residues in our samples were were below the MRL values. This method was reproducible and sensitive. We used HPLC method for detection of pyrethroid pesticides in our sample.
