Summary, etc In this research work, we analyze the electromagnetic wave transmission in a parallel-plate <br/>waveguide filled with a (a) conventional (linear, homogeneous and isotropic) dielectric medium <br/>(b) metamaterials. In this association, we derived the dispersion relations for the TE and TM <br/>wave modes for both cases. The dispersion characteristics of the waves are obtained by the <br/>numerical analysis of the dispersion relation by plotting it for the propagation frequency versus <br/>the wave vector for different values of the dimensions of the waveguide and the number of <br/>modes for the cases (a), whereas for case (b), we analyzed the dispersion characteristics by <br/>plotting the propagation frequency versus the wave vector for diverse values of the number of <br/>modes. The dispersal characteristics show propagation and non-propagation regions in the <br/>microwave frequency range. This effect can be used for different waveguide applications e.g. <br/>filters, sensors etc
